From reading around it seems like I should just return this and purchase something specifically supported =D, which I'll probably do if I don't figure this out in the next week or so and return it to Amazon.

No your issue is automatic sdf download is disabled or failed.
Any UHD drive is going to do this fro you either enable it or disable your firewall or geofilters for Russia

I've had one of these drives for a while, and I was considering getting a new UHD drive but, of course, I'd love it if this drive ends up working with UHD discs. I've read the forums and I'm quite confused about what can and can't be flashed when it comes to this specific drive...here's a screenshot of my info..a bit of help, please?

Weird that they changed the drive have it labeled as bh50n
I would probably flash it with asus 3.10 or WH16NS60 1.02.
UHD is probably possible on it but really no one has tried with that exact setup hopefully it's just a sticker change

Thanks Billy - Is there much a performance difference between let say the ASUS-BW-16D1H-U-A204 and HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.03? Just wondering if these options are similar to preferences in choosing a car like someone preferring a GM product over a Chrysler product? There appears to be a few choices available and I appreciated your input.
