I don't think that's right. I've been using *ahem* other software here & there as needed. (Don't worry, MakeMKV is my first love.) All the drives not only have MK firmware but are cross-flashed as desired. At least, I'm pretty sure I picked the MK versions of the FW. :)
yes what your saying is true for every drive but the ns60

mk+friendly drive= works most rippers
mk+official uhd drive= only makemkv

I tried to find this answer but didnt really find what I was looking for. I started reading about this the other day and have this question. I have the drive in the title of this thread and I flashed the MK 1.01 FW from the 16NS60 drive. Am I correct in my understanding that if the drive supports LibreDrive the Hash Keys are not needed? I have the new Alien 40th Anniversary on UHD and cannot rip the disk as there is no hashed key available yet. This is the behavior I expect when a new UHD movie is released but I thought with LibreDrive those would not be needed.

hashed keys are needed to decrypt the move
libredrive gets around aacs drive revocation and provides other benefits

Yup, the content on the disc is still AACS encrypted regardless of what method is used to read the data. As such, you still need a title key to decrypt it. LibreDrive does provide some awesome benefits, though. Once you have a title key, you will always be able to decrypt that disc because the drive revocation is bypassed in LibreDrive mode.

OK cool thank you for the clarification Billcar11 and SamuriHL that is kind of what I thought but just wanted to make sure! I did do a full disk backup of Alien last night for when the key is available and I did seem to copy quicker than disks have in the past prior to me flashing the MK 1.01 FW.

Howdy folks, n00b here inquiring where one might find download links to the firmware mentioned in this thread. Specifically looking for the 1.00 firmware for WH16NS60 to apply to my newly purchased WH14NS40 drive. Also curious if anyone has a link handy to instructions for applying said firmware.

Thanks in advance!

SamuriHL,

Thank you! This worked like a charm! I figured this would have been a sticky but I did not know where to find it.
