What exactly is happening or error you get when you put a disc in?

Did you purchase this drive from a third party seller on Amazon?

Are you positive this drive is brand new and unused?

That model appears to be a very old model (6+ years) previously bundled with Dell PCs. You might have just gotten ripped off on that purchase.

I bought this supposedly new on Amazon. When a disk is inserted it doesn't detect it. I've tried several DVDs and Blu Rays with the same effect. The output in my original post is all I get.

When you insert a DVD or BD, without MakeMKV running, does your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) see the discs as present in the drive?

Do other apps (e.g. Windows Media Player, VLC, PowerDVD etc) see the discs as present in the drive?

According to another site, this drive has limited support for BD reading, and was introduced in 2011... It really doesn't seem a candidate for LibreDrive support, but if Mike thinks it can do it with a firmware upgrade, maybe it can.

It would probably be a good idea to get a dump of the existing firmware and forward it to Mike for analysis. It will never do UHD, but there are advantages to LD in non-UHD drives.

CH30N is an OEM-version of CH12NS30/UH12NS30 - these drives are capable of reading BDXL media, but don't support UHD BD.

Consider it a BD-combo counterpart of old BH16NS40/WH16NS40 drive lineup.
