Firmware 1.05? Pulling my hair out! WH16NS40: Why is there no threads on this?

Post by taztheman »

I have a brand new WH16NS40 and I have an entire library of UHD movies. I've been trying to downgrade using the information on firmware version 1.03 and 1.04 but I have been unable to find ANY information on people downgrading from 1.05. Anything I do I just get the checksum error using the LG flasher. I've tried that byte of editing in the HEX file as well as using the MK version available. Nothing. I've also tried ASUS firmware that people suggested from 1.04. The drive still works fine but cannot be used with UHD discs. Am I out of luck? Is this the death of UHD with this drive?

Please help!

Hi Billycar11. Thanks for the reply. I've followed all the steps and read through all 54 pages of posts. I've seen people with my exact drive and firmware have my problem and then solve it with sdf flasher. No luck for me. Is it possible an external enclosure like the OWC Mercury Pro could cause this?

So use the makemkv flash if sdf tool is not working or get a self flash kit from me it's free if it does not work

I can only help by saying I have the same drive and now it works with final firmware. I agree a concise list of procedures could make it easier. I'd say I followed the youtube video of cmd procedures to access drive and then maybe cross flashed it then I wrote the mk firmware? Thank You.
