The drive is compatible only when it has older firmware (prior to Dec 2022).
Ah okay. I have version 1.03 and I need 1.02 which is supported. I try do downgrade but I think I have to return the drive and get an older one. That's too bad. I like this drive very much :D

No can do, I bought this thing over a year ago with the expectation it would eventually be supported. I already purchased a different drive from you in the meantime while I was waiting for this drive to get some support. Its not like I'm stuck, just curious what to do considering the status is "possible, not yet enabled".

You will just have to wait and see. It could be in a year or two or never. Who knows....

Hi Billy,
thanks for the quick reply. As for the moment I am fine with just ripping regular blu ray discs I will keep the drive for now. However, in the future I might also wanna turn to UHD blu rays and therefore would like to understand a few things better:

Technically the drive is able to read BD-XL discs, meaning it can technically also read UHD blu rays. Correct?
The reason it cannot read 4K UHD discs is because the installed firmware prevents it from doing it. Correct?
Currently this drive can only be flashed when the installed firmware is dated before 2022-12-12. Correct?
You say the drive won't do UHD for now. That implies in the future it might become possible, given that somebody figures out how to flash this version of the firmware without bricking the drive?

Thanks a lot for helping me understand this better!
Cheers

Anybody able to help me or point me in the right direction?
