Hello, new account and first time poster here.

I have a quad-layer Blu-ray drive which shows as LibreDrive-enabled in MakeMKV, but it doesn't detect the 4K disc I inserted.

The drive is a pain to remove from the enclosure, so I'm hoping the text from MKV below tells the necessary details.

Can the drive be flashed, or is it too old? I have more Blu-Ray drives, but I don't believe they're multi-layer.

Anything with a firmware date prior to 2015 is not going to do UHD.

yes email me for a flasher for it
pioneers with drive platform 8301+ can do UHD if there is an UHD model with the same chip.
some get left out like the xs06 theoretically it can do UHD but there no UHD model of it so it cant be crossflashed to the UHD model

Excellent, sounds a lot cheaper than a new drive. :P

"Possible", probably. "Useful for ripping", unlikely. A 2013 drive won't be able to do UHD, because they didn't come out until 2+ years after the drive was built.

You can do regular BDs and earlier stuff, but not UHD.
