Help with HP CDDVDW TS-L633R 0200

Good Afternoon everyone,
I have searched on the forums and have not found this drive. I have an old laptop that I have pulled the drive out and am using externally with a cable on a better, faster laptop.
I have not had that many problems, but for a couple of DVDs that will not rip, I get a protection warning. I have searched on this website for my drive and i want to check if I need to flash the firmware to make sure it will overcome all protections, anyone help me with this? I have checked the flashing website thing but i cant find my model.
