Old (2016) Asus BW-16D1HT firmware update

Post by _psb_ »

Hi everyone,
Got an option to buy used Asus BW-16D1HT from some person. I got a photo of a drive's front panel.
And on the bottom of a drive a printed label says manufacture date is April 2016.

1) I've read this forum for a while and it seems that manufacturing date is ok for this drive to flashable.
Would someone kindly please confirm this ?

2) And on the other important moment - modern BW-16D1HT have M-Disc logo printed on their's front panel. Would this 2016 drive support M-Disc and BD-XL (i.e. are those a firmware features) ?
(sorry, I failed at attaching a drive's front to this post as image, so here is a link to online picture sharing https://ibb.co/TtG2Q7b)

Thanks a lot.

Honestly, I wouldn't buy it. It's an 8 year old drive for heavens sake. Unless you are getting it for $1 or for free, forget about it. Just buy a new drive!!

Anyway, if you must, before you get it, make sure the firmware version is 3.xx and the drive platform is MT1959. If it is MT1939 and the firmware is 1.xx, DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!
Cheers :D
