Read Speed really slow on MAC OSX

Hi ,
I have a TSSTcorp DVDWBD SN-406AB (Firmware Revision: AS02) bluray / DVD drive I cant get read speeds higher 2.2x. Can anyobe suggest a few things to try or let me know if its possible to get up-to-date firm ware for mac installation? Thanks.
