Converted MKV files have no video (only audio)

Hi all,

I convert some of my DVD collection into MKV for better storage. I use the latest version of MakeMKV (MakeMKV v1.5.8 win(x86-release)). It converts them well, and I can play those newly converted MKV files in my PC (Windows 7, using VLC Player).

However when I run those converted MKVs in my home BluRay/DVD/USB player (Brand: Limit, type: BD-M100) it only plays the audio but no video. I searched the internet for this and some said that I might need some 'decoder file' for my player. However, I downloaded many MKV movies from the internet and all of them work well in my home player - only those which I convert myself using MakeMKV didn't have any video.

Please help.. thanks

Your media player only supports H.264 video in the MKV container, the MKV container can hold many different codecs, DVD's use MPEG-2 video so the problem is that your Blu-ray player even though it supports MPEG-2 does not when played from an MKV container.

The only solution is to contact the maker and hope a firmware update will fix it or encode all your video into H.264 by using a program like Handbrake.

thank you so much for your insight. I will try to use handbrake instead.
