Audio issue with HD-DVD back ups

Post by alkie4life »

I'm not sure if this is a MakeMKV issue or a player issue, so I figured I'd just ask. My LG BH200 is about to die so I'm in the process of trying to backup all my HD-DVDs to my Drobo and play them with Plex. When I run the disc through MakeMKV, it processes without error but when I go to play the file, the dialogue plays from my right front speaker instead of the center channel when played with Plex. I've tried this now with two different HD-DVDs, and using both the Windows and Mac version of MakeMKV. I know this isn't a setup issue as I can play anything else in Plex besides these HD-DVD backups and all audio plays just fine and to the correct channel. Both discs I've backed up utilize a DD+ 5.1 audio track. Here is the MediaInfo for one of the mkv files if it helps. Anyone know what this issue is, how to correct, or even what else I can try?

Makemkv does not change the video or audio streams. The problem is with Plex. Try with a different player like VLC or mplayer.

Hi!
Channel(s) : 6 channels
Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE
Your MediaInfo printout indicates a properly set 5.1 audio format.

Check for loose or altered connections...

Thanks. I figured this out. I was running Plex 8 and it had issues with the EAC3 track. Upgraded to 9 and all is well.

Glad to hear that MakeMKV was not at fault ;>}
