I've been using MakeMKV to transfer my DVDs to MKV for playback from my media centre. Generally, everything works smoothly, looks like a very promising product indeed, but I have a number of troublesome DVDs. When I try to rip the main title, I get the not very specific error:

It shouldn't be related to scratches etc. as some of the DVDs are completely new.

To try and work around this, I have tried to create a DVD ISO containing only the title in question using AnyDVD. Then I mounted that ISO as a virtual drive and tried ripping that again using MakeMKV. I got the exact same error.

I can supply an ISO reproducing the error for analysis if that is of any help.

It looks like data on the disc is invalid. Can you try to open the disc with different dvd-drive? How soon the error happens after you press "make mkv" button?

Also, you can open iso file directly by MakeMKV without mounting it in virtual drive, it will be faster.

I just had the same issue with MakeMKV aswell. Worked fine for one disc and then doesn't work now. Might try and uninstall and reinstall and see if this works. Is this a common problem?

I have a similar problem.
Tried to make mkv with IronMan 2
Everything seems fine during the process but when it's almost finished, it failes to save the file and stops.

I have tried to save it on different disks but still not working.
The disk plays well and there is no protection on it. Have rip both to img and folder structure. Tried to use img and folder.
(is there a log somewhere in the app that can tell me more?)

Tried to make mkv with IronMan 2... The disk plays well and there is no protection on it.

All original, commercial DVDs of "IronMan2" certainly do have copy protection...

I also have the same problem. I even reripped and made a new disc, but it gives me the same error. (I have to say I was trying to manipulate these files in another program and it always gave me a "missing NAV packets" error, maybe that's related).

Your issue is different. Are you opening a commercial blu-ray disc or a home-made rip?

I am trying this for the first time and i thought I was just doing it wrong so I put a different DVD in and it seemed to work. This DVD was a box set but it was made on a DVD-R I am not sure if that makes a difference but I just read that on the DVD itself. Here is what I get after the error box.

Been digitizing our dvd collection and have encountered this to. I've ripped 200+ dvd's so far and encountered this on about 20 of them. I've also tried them on 3 separate macs and get the same thing. The dvd's play fine.

The log below is from a title I extracted via Mac The Ripper to see if that wouldn't make any difference, it didn't. It does the same via the actual dvd.

I'm also getting this error for a disc. The DVD has multiple angles, one for each language. It failed 3 times in MakeMKV, but worked perfectly in DVD Decrypter and IfoEdit (to extract the correct angle)

Can you look into the code? I have tried older versions of your prog on discs that i have had problems with on the new version and they work fine. 1.5.4 seems to be okay, but when I tried 1.5.6 there is issues.
