There are three large-ish titles on the NETFLIX version. They are numbered as follows:

00801.mpls - 144:29 minutes, Segment map: 1070, 1071, 1068, 1069
00802.mpls - 144:29 minutes, Segment map: 1070, 1071, 1067, 1069
01070.mpls - 154:47 minutes - DOES NOT MATCH IMDB.

I don't know which of the first two are the correct one...801 or 802. Help?

Given JUST the file names, it would probably 00800.mpls, and you'll find that the titles/credits in 00801.mpls are not in English. The other version is likely a "directors cut", which explains the longer run time.

But that's based on the way Disney does their disks. This is Paramount...

I have 800 and 801 on a Redbox rental. It is not marked as a rental special, but I don't know if there are multiple versions.

Note that the oddball 1070 playlist is 1h54m, not 154m. Its sole segment is the same as the first part of the other two playlists.

The only differences between 800 and 801 is switching between 1067 and 1068. Both are 26 second clips that look identical from a quick viewing.

Source file name: 00801.mpls
Duration: 2:24:29
Chapters count: 22
Size: 39.0 GB
Segment count: 4
Segment map: 1070,1071,1068,1069

Source file name: 00800.mpls
Duration: 2:24:29
Chapters count: 22
Size: 39.0 GB
Segment count: 4
Segment map: 1070,1071,1067,1069

Source file name: 01070.m2ts
Duration: 1:54:47
Size: 31.3 GB
Segment count: 1
Segment map: 1070

How do you view just a single segment?

I use VLC on the .m2ts file. (After using the MakeMKV "Backup" function to make a complete BDMV directory).

I just noticed that the third title is a .m2ts file, not .mpls like the others. I hadn't realized that MakeMKV would show those as titles.

I selected 1067 contained in t02. In 1068 Bob says, "sorry." In 1067 Bob says,"I'm proud to know Americans like you."

Every time I attempt to backup any track for 13 hours I get the following "The source file '/BDMV/STREAM/01070.m2ts' is corrupt or invalid at offset 29273487360, attempting to work around" and no matter what I have tried I always get some kind of error on that file. I just started backing up my blu rays a week or so ago but have had no issues until I got to this disc, I've also backed up other discs since encountering this error to determine if my drive appeared to have issues or not. Sorry if this post is in the wrong place but this was the only thread I could find anywhere talking about 13 hours and it sounds like some of you have gotten it to work no problem so I'm hoping you might have suggestions.

Any help is appreciate.

"corrupt or invalid" is usually an issue with the drive not being able to correctly read the disk. According to some messages posted by Mike last year, some drives won't report an error if they can come up with SOMETHING that resembles data, even if it is wrong. When the data doesn't make any sense, MakeMKV gives the "corrupt or invalid" message, and tries different things to "make it work".

First course of action is to clean the disk. The film of chemicals used during the manufacturing process doesn't always wash off, and can cause errors like this.

Well I cleaned it and tried again about 3 or 4 times with varying results but never getting it to fully work however it was definitely the right path and got me a little farther along I just think there is some blemish that my drive can't seem to deal with even though I am pretty sure it will play fine but I need to verify. What I finally ended up doing that let me get it done was doing an unencrypted backup which it managed to work it's way through and once I had the encrypted data on my HDD I could reload it and make my MKV which appears to be okay but again I have no had an opportunity to view it and see that it all came out as I expected. In any case I appreciate the help with identifying my issue.

If the error moves around before the read gives up, increasing the number of retries in the Preferences->IO menu can SOMETIMES help. But I wouldn't get ridiculous with it. The default value is 5.

I have found that BD drives are not as good at reading DVDs as a "real" DVD drive; I keep a couple of portable DVD drives around if I get this problem with a DVD. They're slow and a pain to dig out and plug in, but my old Sony was the only drive that could the ONE track from ONE disk out of the Hercules series that was not readable in two different sets, AND from Netflix.

The same applies to BDs, though - different BD drives have slightly different laser alignments, and sometimes switching drives makes it possible to get a good read. Most people would think having 4 BD drives in 3 different computers is overkill... Sometimes, though, I have to fire up that third computer!

I only have the 1 BD drive and so far it has done a great job but for the reasons you said I'm going to keep my eyes open for a good deal on another one that is a different manufacturer just to try and improve my odds when these things happen in the future.

cherokee_outlaw is right:

Of the 3 files contained on the Netflix version of this film, 2 are the correct length and 1 is too short.

00800.mpls/t01.mkv @ 2.24.29

00801.mpls/t02.mkv @ 2.24.29

00801.mpls/t02.mkv @ 1.54.47

The only difference between the 2 correct length files is @ about 2.12.06, when "Bob" says either "I'm proud to know Americans like you." [00800.mpls/t01.mkv] or "Sorry." [00801.mpls/t02.mkv]. Gotta "love" these sneaky tricks used by the studios.

So, I'm assuming the 1st is the correct one, making 00800.mpls/t01.mkv the correct file for the Netflix version.

Hope that helps.
