I agree with WAYFLIX. I used the filter log on my RB version and got 00501.mpls.

Is there a playlist for RB disc? I see a lot of 972 .mpls RB doesn't have this playlist.
Why don't you buy the disc and Backup your own copy, instead of ripping rentals?
There is no shortage of idiots in the world.

I've verified that 501 is the MPLS for the Red Box version of Cold Pursuit (USA), by using a process monitor to determine that the segment map is [513,503,502,509,510,505,508,512,514,504,506,501,515,511,507].

Although several people brought my attention to 501 it seems the feature picked by MakeMKV correctly chose 00299.mpls. I just compared the RB BD with 299 and all of the chapters seem to be in order.... anyone see a problem with 299?

Thanks,

R

What do you mean by the "Filter Log"?

For some reason, with the latest Java installed, MakeMKV isn't detecting any chapter as the correct one for this disc.

My RB also shows 299 to be correct. It was not showing until I updated Java to the latest version, restarted the computer and ran MakeMKV again.
I just compared the order of chapters and the beginning content with the disc playback on the BD player and the Disc and 299 and 501 seem to be playing back the same content.

The differences?
1) The 501 file size is 30.55GB where 299 is 30.15GB, why?
2) The Segment Maps are different 299 is (513,509,502,503,510,512,505,508,514,506,504,515,511,501,507) while 501 is (513,503,502,509,510,505,508,512,514,504,506,501,515,511,507).

So, if the segment maps are different would that not mean that the chapters would show differently? What am I looking for here?

Thanks,

R

I tried the 299 but it was skipping around. Trying 513 now.
It looks like the chapter order fir 299 matches 501 which seems to match the BD played in a normal player.... what problems are you seeing with 299?

I need to know what to look for.

Thanks,

R

I can't speak to what anyone else does, but I rent 'em from Redbox, rip 'em, put 'em in a special library in Plex that only I have access to (i.e.: friends and family can't see the Redbox rips), watch 'em once, then delete 'em. I see it as delayed viewing; I am only consuming the content once, not keeping it. In fact, recently I rented the Lego Movie 2 from Redbox for the second time because my kids wanted to watch the movie again.

I often buy used Blu-rays from Redbox as well, but most movies aren't worth the $20-25 a new Blu-ray costs.

I finally saw two scenes where 299 had a few shots that were not right... Look at the Morgue scene and the Cop Street Pot Smoking Scene... 501 seems like the correct segment match.

So, somewhere in the code the BD player must have access to know which segment map to use for the feature.... do you know of a way of accessing this code so that we can choose the proper segment map with absolute accuracy?

Thanks,

R

I can confirm that for a fact, the Red Box playlist of 299 is not correct. I got about 15 minutes into the film when the scenes started to jump around.

Digimars, it looks like 501 is the one.

Indeed, 501 worked for me. I viewed the whole movie last night and it played fine. Thanks!

Original RedBox disc, set the filters in Process Monitor. Only way to find the true playlist. Use it on all Lionsgate movies. Works every time so far.....

"set the filters in Process Monitor"? I really don't know what you mean... can you clarify this please?

Thanks,
