Pulp Fiction

Post by Merkur »

Hi,

Im having difficulties with this one. There are only Nordic subtitles so I guess it is a "Nordic-version". I was able to use AnyDVDHD for Windows to make an image file so Im stuck with a M2TS stream file. Any advice on how I can turn this one into an MKV file and keep the subtitles like MakeMKV normally does for me?

1) Why don't you simply exchange the original, commercial "Nordic version" Blu-ray disc for the one that you you prefer (Presumably English)?

2) My "Pulp Fiction" Blu-ray disc has several different language subtitle streams (As do most commercial Blu-ray releases). Did you check carefully to make certain that your disc doesn't have more/different subtitle streams?

Well the disc has off course english audio (DD5.1/DTS HD+Core5.1) and nordic subtitles wich suits me perfect. The problem is that it will not go thru MakeMKV.

Try using MakeMKV DIRECTLY (with no other programs running, such as DVDFab Passkey, AnyDVD, etc.) to make a FULL DISC backup - and then use that FULL DISC backup as the source for having MakeMKV create an .MKV...

Hi

Sorry to rewake this old thread, but I have a similar problem.

My version is a Danish one with English audio and nordic subtitles, and the MakeMKV extraction stops approx. at 1/3 of the total of 34GB. I have tried to make a backup of the entire disc with MakeMKV 1.15.2, which also fails. I have tried to copy it manually via Windows Explorer, which works, but the bluray drive almost stops when 10.7 GB is copied, but the copy process continues until the entire file 00000.m2ts file is complete. I have tried to make a MKV-version of the manually copied files, but the MKV process also stops at approx. 1/3.

The disc works fine in my PS4 pro and when I watch the film at my PC using the Leawo bluray player and the same bluray drive (LG BU40N with the 1.03 firmware) I use for the MakeMKV extraction, but the film stutter for a very short moment at 51:27, which is around 1/3 of the film, so there seems to be a connection.

I have tried to extract the film via my old laptop with a build-in bluray drive and same failing result.

I have tried to clean the disc with a microfiber cloth and I can't see any scratches.

Error log shows the following:

Error 'OS error - STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR' occurred while reading '\Device\CdRom1' at offset '12186943488'

Any thoughts?

That error is almost always indicating that the drive had difficulty reading the disc. I sometimes use dish soap and water to clean the disc to remove any invisible oils on the surface and then carefully dry with a microfiber cloth.

Thanks - but it didn't help. I forgot that the Shield could play the M2TS file, which i was able to manually copy from the disc. The Shield plays the file fine except for the very short moment where it stutters and then continues, but I can live with that. The subtitles was extracted via SubtitleEdit and works fine, so I am quite happy now.
