Hello,
I believe I may have a solution (more, a “work around”) to this problem.
I,too, have anguished with this “Red Screen” of death.
Mainly, with most of the X-Men Movie Blu Rays (which, I believe is Fox).
I have two work-around’s that have worked for me (as I also use [and love] the FULL back-up option).
Solution#1 - use a Android Media Box to play your FULL BU MakeMKV file.
My Android box (I use a Zidoo) gives the user the option to play either: 1) The Blu Ray Menu, or 2) Just the Video file.
When I choose the option (#2) then it will BYPASS all of the restrictions (like the Red screen, etc.)
The one drawback to this is that it will NOT show all of the [nice] interactive menu options.
But, it’s better than nothing! (At all).
In my experience I have NEVER (so far) seen a 100% [“Perfect”] Blu Ray or 4K Rip (from by MakeMKV, AnyDVD, DVDFab, or even DeUHD [the last was a disaster for me!]).
Note: if anyone knows of something that gives a PERFECT Blu-Ray/4K Rip, then please let me know.
I’ve tried a NUMBER of Android boxes, but very FEW that read all Movie files (like DVD [TS_Video], BDMV, BD-ISO, etc.)
The only ones I’ve researched (that come close) is the Zidoo, eGreat, Dune, and the famous/infamous OPPO players (the last, being/costing worth a MILLION dollars now
)
My Zidoo Android box plays them ALL (all Movie formats, that is).
(And No, I don’t work for Zidoo - just love the product. Had a KD Links, before, but they Dropped-the-Ball, with 4K. And Dunes are [like Oppo] TOO expensive).
The Zidoo box does give you a “striped down” menu, where you can play [any] video file [individually], but that is it.
Until one of you [genius] programmers out there can/will invent a bypass (Java) BD+script, then I believe the only thing available will be a work-around (like this).
Solution #2 - Bypass Blu Ray altogether (and go [strictly] with 4K).
I found that all of the Red Screen movies also [mostly] have an alternate 4K version.
Recently, I noticed that ALL of the 4K versions do NOT have/get this Red Screen bug.
So I have been Ripping all of these movies (the 4K version), and then archiving (dumping) all of these [old/older] problem Blu Ray’s.
This latter option may not be acceptable for Most/All people, but (as I noted), I’m just giving the best [Logical] “Work Around” I can see (and give).
Not very “technical” but (as noted), it’s better than nothing.
My 2 Cents
