Problem creating discatt.dat file

Post by Gopikrishna19 »

Newbie here, I am on Windows 10, I made a backup of the BR disc into an ISO. I was following Mike's instruction on creating a discatt.dat from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17087#p60530

But every time I click the backup button without the decryption, the disc stops spinning and MakeMKV quits with a "Fatal error occurred" message. I also read in another thread to look for an Event Viewer log. I did find a one but it doesn't make any sense to me:

Code: Select all

Faulting application name: makemkvcon64.exe, version: 1.15.3.0, time stamp: 0x5f75d90f
Faulting module name: makemkvcon64.exe, version: 1.15.3.0, time stamp: 0x5f75d90f
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000000026971
Faulting process id: 0x2d68
Faulting application start time: 0x01d6c4ec6c25af18
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV\makemkvcon64.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV\makemkvcon64.exe
Report Id: d495c325-1539-4e29-b4bc-82063ae01b1d
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:
Please guide me on what to do. Thanks in advance.

I almost always create a decrypted backup. The few times I have created a non-decrypted backup it is usually an accident. When it happens, though, I do end up with a discatt.dat file.

Does MakeMKV work with other discs? Can you make a MKV in the normal way? Can you make a backup, decrypted or otherwise, from other discs?

Yes, I can run it with other discs. I was able to RIP a whole. But this one is giving unrecoverable read errors. So I was following Mike's instruction. I was able to copy the whole disc into an ISO and extracted into a folder. Now I am trying to get the discatt.dat file I can RIP it from a folder.
