BU40N with 3-layered 100gb-discs ?

Post by -ghost- »

Hello,

i own a LG BH16NS55-Drive ..... this works like a charm with libre-dvd as uhd-friendly-drive upt to 2-layered 66gb-discs.
3-layered with 100gb (Game of Thrones 4k-Box) are really problematic - the discs arent recognized by the drive.
I have cleaned the lens with isopropanol by opening the drive-case and the discs to .... - no difference ...

Question:
Will the LG BU40N-Drive recognize the 100gb / 3-layered discs, because this drive should officially support UHD-discs?

Or would i waste money, if i bought such a drive?

regards,

really your current drive should read BD100 but the desktop drives have very bad quality control some are fine some are trash.

i have had much better luck with the BU40N and thats the reason i only sell that

And the fact that the GoT UHD set has been problematic for just about everyone.

I’d quite confidently say that the drive is not the issue, that UHD set is.
Cheers :D

Yes the Hitachi LG-BH16NS55 should read no problem. I have had great success with these drives.

Maybe I have been lucky with the European drives, BH16NS40 / BH16NS60 / BH16NS55.

Just out of interested a question to Martymcnuts. Do you have a 25% failure with the BH16NS55 in Australia?

I sell both Slim BU40N and ASUS / LG Desktop Drives and no problems at the moment.

Certainly not! I've had 2 dud's total, so about 1% failure rate.

This is good new MARTYMCNUTS that you have had only 1% failure on the BH16NS55 . Same has you, I have had about 1% problems with the BH16NS55 / BH16NS40 drives.

This is a drive that my customers seem to prefer particularly in Europe but saying that, my BU40N's do not give me any problems either.

Hope it stays this way.
