RED 2

Post by luispillot »

Does anyone know which file to rip, it lists over 25 different files and none show up as 116 minute runtime?

Thanks, for some reason IMDB shows runtime 116 minute.

Thanks

Everywhere shows the runtime as 116 minutes (1 hour 56 minutes), which is likely correct. The problem is, I can't find a post with the EXACT runtime (including seconds) so I am having trouble narrowing down which titles to experiment with.

I have loaded the disk into a blu-ray player and checked the title that plays. Unfortunately, it displays title 1, which is 1 hour 54 minutes, which I know to be wrong.

So...

If anybody knows the exact runtime or a technique to identify the correct stream while the movie plays, I would be happy to post my results once I narrow down the possibilities.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

My player indicates 1:55:45 for the US release purchased from Amazon. Only two files have this time on my disc—t00 and t103 (MakeMKV reading) or track 1 and 104 (player reading). Player indicated track 1 (t00) was the real movie and I am converting it at this time for ?TV playback and a chapter by chapter comparison to confirm this.

You are a prince.

I will do the same in case there are multiple versions.

Edit: I don't have any titles with a duration of 1 hr 55 min 45 sec. However, I have three titles that are within 1 sec of that and am ripping them now for chapter comparison.

Segments appear to be in the correct order. My product number is 0-25192-21310-6 and is the Amazon Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD combo package. For me, t00 (00016.mpls) had the correct segment sequence.

ADDED: May have spoken too soon. Will have to check a couple of things in alternative sequence...

I don't have a 00016.mpls nor do any of my options show a duration of 1:55:45. If anyone figures out the for sure correct playlist, please post it.

As previously mentioned, different products can have different MPLS/segment lists.

ADDED: People may want to include the UPC associated with their mpls recovery information so other readers can quickly tell which recoveries apply to them.

According to my player the length is 1:55:48, three possible titles, the one that worked for me:
UPC: 0-25192-21310-6

Title information
Name: RED 2 (English)
Source file name: 00679.mpls
Duration: 1:55:48
Chapters count: 18
Size: 31.5 GB
Segment count: 15
Segment map: 505,517,514,502,504,511,507,503,509,506,515,501,510,518,519

My Bluray Copy is 1:55:48, and the files that match those lengths on mine are 304.mpls, 450.mpls, 577.mpls, 868.mpls

So I guess it depends on which copy it is.

*304.mpls and 450.mpls didn't work for me

Thanks for posting the complete set of specifications. Went back and re-checked the timing info and it was still the same 1:55:45 in the player first used. However, when I checked it in a different player, I did get your reading of 1:55:48. Looks Like I have a problem and will have to be aware of it in the future. In any case, this explains the momentary scene "flashbacks" to the funeral I was getting when proofing the entire video as opposed to simply spot checking at the chapter markers. Thanks again.

I ended up ripping 577.

It seems to be correct.

I've also read elsewhere that on another version of the disc 679 seems to be correct.

I popped the blu-ray into my Oppo player and the movie duration is 1:55:48

Also, here are the times for a few chapter stops (as read from my Oppo player):

1) 0:00:00
2) 0:08:16
3) 0:14:47
4) 0:21:15

17) 1:45:09
18) 1:46:45

My Oppo also lists a 19th chapter stop at 1:55:48, but it always does that. It is really only 18 chapters

Anyway, on the blu-ray disc I was looking at, the 00577.mpls matched the duration and those chapter stops that I listed above. I have not watched the movie yet, though. There were 3 other unique possibilities with the 1:55:48 duration on the disc I looked at (304, 450, 868), but I did not rip those since it seems 00577.mpls is likely the one I want.

This disc even baffled AnyDVD HD, which can often determine which Java BD protection playlists are good. But it listed a bunch: 293, 451, 569-573, 575-578, 679-682, 983. At least it included 577 in the list.

I ripped this after a few bad choices. Thanks for the pointer.

I watched it all the way through. I can vouch for it. It is correct.

This is for the rental that I got from a Redbox.

Oh, and this sequel is actually better than the first. I give it a solid three stars. Tongue-in-cheek action film with a charismatic all-star cast. No expense spared. A eurovan shot to shit like you have never seen it before. They cured the biggest problem with the first film which was not really giving MLP anything substantive to do. She got to shoot the hell out of a bad guy this time. :)
