Hello guys,

I bought the Asus BW-16D1HT. Works just fine. Now I want do downgrade the firmware with the tool provided by MartyMcNuts.
But I ran into a Problem, the label on my Player says "Asus BW-16D1HT" , but makeMKV, Windows and the tool recognize it as:
"BD-RE ASMedia ASM105x 3.03 "
Also the other tool from the polnish Webside doesnt recognize it neither.

See the pictures.
So, what do I do now to make it work? Really want to use my 4k Blu-Rays.
That ASUS flasher in your pic is the 3.02 flasher. Please go to thread below and download the modified flasher + firmware.

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=18933

Try this flasher and report back to us.

Thanks
Tryed it out, worked!
Flash took ony 30sec and done.
Even with the SATA to USB Adapter.

Thank you very much:)
Excellent!! I'm glad it worked for you. Now get to ripping!!
Cheers :D

LG BU40N recently purchased from Amazon works now. Thanks so much. I can finally rip and encode my 4k disc collection!

Actually just started Valerian encoding in h265. Suddenly my 8 core Ryzen no longer feels adequate. :mrgreen:

Links to what I purchased.

HVEC / h265 encoding from raw 4k disc rip. Raw data for me takes up too much room on my Plex server.

@tgui9660,

If you have a decent graphics card, use software that can take advantage of NVENC.

I have a GTX 1060 (6GB) and I use CloneBD for the HEVC video encoding @ 25 Mb/s. Most movies take approx 30 mins on average.

I have a tiny gtx 1030 or something. Sooo... not great. I should still try it for shits and giggles.

But I have read that while NVENC is fast, the files are far larger than and quality not up par with CPU based encoding. Valerian went from 51.4 Gb to 3.9Gb with CPU HVEC encoding in my case. The quality is also amazing.

Not to sway too far from this thread which enabled me to do all this!!!

I just received my LG WH16NS60 and downgraded it using the LG flasher to 1.00. It came stock with 1.01. I'm assuming that it's safe to use the same LG flasher linked above that I used to downgrade to upgrade to the MK firmware found in the [https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 19&t=19113 Custom firmware pack with LibreDrive patches] thread.

Color me somewhat confused, as I can't really see anyone else with my drive.

I'm using the LG BH16NS58 drive. It came preloaded with firmware version 1.01. It's currently unable to recognize UHD, so I was wondering if downgraded firmware would fix it. I've been reading, but find it a bit confusing, since everyone is using different drives from me. Is my drive downgradeable? Would it fix my UHD problem?

@vjlex
Mike's firmware pack in this thread contains a patched 1.01 version for your drives which is ready for UHD.

@Terramex
Thank you for replying. I managed to figure it out just before my post was approved by the moderators, so I couldn't edit my post. I installed the patched 1.01 and can read my UHD discs now. Thanks again!

Included in this zip is the following firmware:

WH16NS60_1.00

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k2h5In ... sp=sharing
MD5: 9C83D4E39F34B6B17E7CD273AF522887

I know there's only been 1000 confirmation requests, but the DE WH16NS60_1.00 from the link quoted (pg 1 of thread), is ideal for a newly purchased NS50 WH14NS40 via the Marty Mcnuts GUI app?

Thanks for all your awesome work everyone
