Pioneer optical uhd drive

Post by ekpen »

Greetings:
I have one of the pioneer uhd optical drive bundled with power dvd.
It is of no use when it comes to ripping uhd.
I am always getting certificates revoked error message.
Is it possible to downgrade the firmware to use any of the available types for use as a libredrive ?
Another question:
With this libredrive ,will the AACS 2.1 be a mute point.?
Can we now or is it p possible now to rip the Patriot uhd ,and Fury uhd titles.?
Thanks.
George.

Hi Ekpen. You might be referring to the Pioneer BDR-211 UBK 4K UHD Official UHD drive or another model. Sorry to say as the Pioneer drive is not supported to rip 4K UHD movies with MakeMKV and the firmware cannot be downgraded to make the drive “UHD Friendly”. You’ll need the UHD Friendly LG WH16NS40 Blu-ray drive or Asus BW-16D1HT I personally have the Pioneer BDR-211 but I bought this for the work at the office and not to rip 4K UHD.

I already have the Asus and the LGs.
But the Pioneer BDR xxx, was the first optical drive purchased, but not useable.
You will think the libredrive utility can disable at least, features that make it not useable for ripping.
Libredrive loads in RAM, my thinking is, it could be included, not nessessarily to downgrade the firmware.
I am one of the early members that sent over 250 dumps over to Mike, so I am already ripping uhds.
Thanks.
George.

Mike has said that Pioneer support in the future MIGHT (emphasis on MIGHT) be possible. He's got a LOT of firmware versions to add support for so it might be some time before that potentially happens.

Question:
Regarding the Pioneer uhd drive :
Is it possible to flash this with the LG WH16NS60, or any of the ASUS model ?
Thanks.
