Fair enough, wasn't aware that didn't apply so was just outlining all my troubleshooting.

Any advice on how to proceed from here?

Hey all,
New here.
Just bought an LG BH16NS55 with firmware 1.04

Was getting nowhere on my win10 machine (probably because it only has AHCI)
I've hooked it up to a Win7 machine with AHCI disabled in bios, attempted to flash to asus 3.10 bios with both the asus odd and lg crossflash utilities and still no go.
asus odd gives me Update Failure #4 errors and the lg crossflash gives me errors.
I'm sure there's something simple I'm overlooking, anyone have any insight?
How is your drive connected to PC? I think Failure #4 is usually when an adapter or something is not passing the required commands through to the drive.
Cheers :D

Except if they're playing with AHCI that tells me they're on SATA, no?

Also I'll just note those are the errors appearing on the Win7 machine, win10 gives me different errors (see attached)
Again connected on sata straight to the board

A program on your pc is probably taking exclusive control of your optical drives not allowing them to be flashed I have seen this a few times when remote flashing for people. Close all programs that have anything to do with optical drives

Didn't have any apps running that should be accessing the drive to my knowledge.
Any specific apps you're aware of that might be doing things in the background? (I.e. antivirus, chrome, etc)

https://www.techsupportall.com/fixed-so ... er-filter/

It doesn't just apply to optical drives that can't be found. Messed up filters can cause other issues, as well.

No luck on filters, didn't have an upper or lower filter in that registry key.
On the win10 or win7.

No luck on a program taking control, I shut off virtually every process on the windows 10 machine so it was just task manager and the lg crossflasher running.

try making a bootable pe windows on a flashdrive https://www.aomeitech.com/pe-builder.html i have flashed 100+ drive in that it should work
the asus flasher wont work on that one no .net but that eliminates the software variables completely.
then you just try asus 3.10mk with the lg flasher and see if it works if not your probably just better buying a preflashed one
because then your sata controller or something is not passing the commands

I'm in PE now but the lg flasher won't launch, it should just launch if I try to run it yeah? No extra steps needed?

Edit: tried to launch from cmd and got the attached
