NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Drives
Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
Hi Guys,
I have the choice of drives to purchase. ASUS bw-16d1ht or LG bh16ns55. Is there any reason to pick one over the other in regards to UHD friendly. The LG is considerably cheaper. Cheers.

I managed to flash BC-12D2HT from 3.1 to BW-16D1HT 3.10 now. Seems to support Lib Drive mode now. THANK YOU.
If I try to flash another FW is now throwing Error #5

For those who recently bought an LG BP50NB40, I did just that today and was able to downgrade. Mine had a manufacturing date of July 2019, firmware 1.02, and was purchased from Best Buy. Took some trial and effort but I got it to be recognized as a BP60NB10 by doing the following:
- Downloading the latest modified flasher in the first post. Be sure to use the flasher that was modified in August 2019.
- Flashing the BP50NB40 1.02 firmware from this post: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 19&t=19113. File name is
Code: Select all

- Flashing BP60NB10 hybrid firmware linked in the first post. File name is

Fully recognized UHD disks and I'm now ripping Into The Spider-Verse. Hopefully this helps someone out in the future. Thanks for all the great work!

Good morning I get the asus bw16d1ht burner to rip blue ray 4k, I wanted to know, to change the firmware if the already installed one doesn't go well, just connect the burner in sata normally, then with the asus odd program load the firmware 3.02 , it's correct?
How do I check the firmware already installed in the factory?
thanks.

It has a step-by-step video showing exactly what you need to do.

Hi I didn't understand much because I'm not an expert in these things, I thought it was enough to simply use the asus odd program as explained on page 1 and load the new firmware 3.02.
It is not so?

Just crossflashed a balky LG WH16SN40 SVC50 1.02 to ASUS BW-16DHT 3.02. It's happily reading the Casino Royale UHD from my new box set. Thanks so much. Your method is about a thousand times easier than taking the drive to work so I can hook it up to a SATA port on an old PC there and run through the whole DOSFlash routine. You are awesome.

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
Hi Marty, greetings from the UK!
Just wanted to say thanks for creating this thread - I've just received an Asus BW-16DHT with firmware 3.1.
Quick flash to MK 3.1 using your guide and tool and hey presto, currently ripping my first 4K title
Fingers crossed it completes with no problems and I can start on the rest of my collection - one little thing I wanted to ask is in regard to the Sleep Bug that is constantly referred to throughout this thread.
Will the firmware I've flashed it to still suffer from this? And will it damage my disc surface in any way? (noob alert!)
Many thanks again for this resource.
Cheers

The sleep bug is still present in the current ASUS firmware. I’m not quite sure why such a big deal is made about it. Seriously how hard is it to start a rip within two minutes??And set a timer on your phone to come check the rip in 40-45 minutes from when it starts. Totally valid workaround.
